Denver Maternity Photographers: Which Session Should You Do?

So you’re pregnant, congratulations! I think this is one of the best times in your life! Now is the time to start thinking about maternity photos and the style you are going for. There is so many different ways to celebrate your baby bump and I’m here to walk you through it!

Celebrate your body before baby!

Some women want to get in one last sexy Denver boudoir photo shoot before baby get’s here. It is a great way to celebrate your changing body. The above photo was taken when this momma was 20 weeks pregnant (and added on boudoir film photography)! I also had clients who were in the earliest part of pregnancy come to the studio for a session (6-9 weeks). If your heart is set on a pre-bump photo session this is a great option for you.

Outdoor Maternity with the family!

Want the whole family involved? Then let’s plan for a maternity portraits outdoors. Don’t have a spot in mind? No worries at all! We’ve got plenty of locations located around the fort range (or out of state) to do maternity pictures. Want them at home? This is a great idea because we can also do some photos in your nursery as well. We can also design a package where we do a few photos in-studio and outdoors. We’ve got a great location just minutes from the studio that is breathtaking!

Boudoir maternity photo shoot!

I feel like boudoir maternity photo shoots get a bad rap! These don’t have to be overly sexy photos or even nude. Many client’s go for implied nude photos when it’s maternity. Either way, you definitely should do one! Why? Because your body is amazing… you are growing a human and that should be celebrated! It’s also one of those situations you don’t want to look back on and wish you had done one.

There are some things to keep in mind when planning your photo session.

1. Timing. You don’t want to wait too long. Make sure you get your session done before 34 weeks. Why? Because there is so much growth after 34 weeks and the exhaustion will kick in. This is around the time every women (me included) wish they had done photos sooner because you don’t feel sexy, just big.
2. Wardrobe. You will want to plan out your wardrobe. Make sure you have a few pieces that have some flow to them which makes for comfort. Definitely have some fitted options because you want to show off that belly! The last thing you will want to bring is one of your favorite outfits that you’ve worn throughout the pregnancy. You may not wear it the whole time, but it’s a great ice breaker if you’re nervous!
3. The baby book. Keep in mind these photos can be used for baby books or even to hang on the wall. It’s a great way to remember this time! Heck, I’ve still got my boudoir maternity photo still hanging on my wall and my youngest is almost 3! I’ve put together some great albums for clients with one side of the page a newborn baby and the other side the baby bump!
4. Location. Do you really want to clean your home? If not, you can come to the studio or even do the photo session outdoors. Yes, you can do sexy maternity pictures outside!

We are slowly adding new pieces to our maternity wardrobe at the studio! Yes, I can and will travel with the wardrobe if you prefer. We have a white lace robe and black chiffon dress available for your use. But, the great part of shooting at the studio is you don’t have to clean your house and you can get hair and makeup done if you like!

The collections available are fully customizable for maternity or we can design the perfect package for you. Pricing starts at $300 for mini sessions and $400 for maternity photo sessions.
